Case Study: Runner

Former College Athlete With Long-Term Joint Pain

Jess is a former college athlete. For many years, she dealt with pain in her hips, knees, and shoulders. This pain made it hard for her to run and train. Her hips were stiff, her knees would swell, and she could not run without pain.

Jess began training with the Functional Patterns method. The focus was on how her body moves, how her joints work together, and how force travels through her body when she walks and runs.

Over time, Jess saw major changes. Her hip, knee, and shoulder pain went away. Her hip movement improved a great deal. She was able to return to running and completed a half marathon without pain. She also felt stronger and more stable than she had since her college years.

Jess says the training changed how she understands her body and how it moves. Today, she runs with confidence and feels capable and strong again.
